Hi, hey, hello everyone! As voted for on my Twitter this entry is focused on my exercise routine! I am in the process of getting referred to an exercise physiologist and dietitian to really make sure I am on the right track to getting healthy. I don’t do anything extreme or strenuous as I have been advised to take it slow and easy. I do experience swelling in my legs and joint pain when exercising so I don’t do anything to make that worse.
For my legs I normally do 20 squats, 20 lunges, 20 jumping jacks and repeat 2-3 times. Then I do 20 minutes of stretching or simple yoga. As I said I don’t go too extreme as I don’t want to aggravate my swelling or joint pains.
For my arms I tend to fill up a 700ml water bottle or use a 1KG bag of rice to lift behind my head for 8-12 counts, then I do the same with some arm curls and also lift above my head. I repeat this 2 times because my arms aren’t that strong so I’m working on that.
I like to go for walks in the afternoon if I can. I go around the block which is typically 1-3km depending where I go.
Easing into this is easiest for me because I’m not used to doing exercise. I’m not used to intense physical activity and I really want to avoid injury.
I hope to share a proper routine with you all once I’ve seen the exercise physiologist sometime in June/July so I can be more focused on specific things because at the moment I’m just kind of making it up as I go.
It doesn’t seem like a lot and it’s not but I’m trying and I think that’s what’s important. As long as I keep moving! Please don’t hesitate to give me some tips, tricks or suggestions! I’d love to hear from you guys in the comments.
My gratefuls for today are:
- I’m grateful for my home. It’s not much but it’s mine. It shelters me, keeps me warm and safe.
- I’m grateful for my friend and family who make me feel loved and understood. They make effort to keep me involved in their lives and that’s important.
- I’m grateful for the money I have to pay bills, buy food and experience different things. I’ve always got enough and it’s something I never take for granted.
Until next time! Talk soon x
